Jon Treichel

Jon Treichel is a guitarist/composer with a long history as part of the BC music scene. He started performing professionally in the late 1980’s, initially working in a house band performing classic rock at the famous Pig & Whistle in Vancouver’s Gastown. Jon also recorded and performed with a number of local original bands until moving to the Shuswap in November of 1992 to begin work on writing and recording incidental music for a stage production called Janis/Janus, a theatre piece exploring the life of singer Janis Joplin.

After spending some time touring with the show Jon settled in the Kamloops area and began teaching music as well as continuing to perform with a variety of bands and theatre companies. Over the years Jon has recorded and performed with singers such as Cathi Marshall, Henry Small, Darby Mills, John Roles, Dan Hare, Daveton Jones and many others as well as performing with the Kamloops Symphony, playing electric and acoustic guitars as well as electric bass.

Jon currently keeps busy performing with a number of vocalists in the Kamloops and Okanagan areas as well as Vancouver. Jon spends a lot of his time in his studio, writing and recording music for a variety of projects as well as recording demos for local songwriters and recording guitar parts for the EDM label Electric Love Records (among others).
